Pilot line production of mulch papers: Coating and impregnation of paper-based mulch covers

Pilot line production of mulch papers: Coating and impregnation of paper-based mulch covers

The coating and matrix compound: ORMOCER® (hybrid polymer) will be upscaled, but the pilot line production processes for the paper coating and composite manufacturing are also part of the NewHyPe-project. A process for inline production of the composite for mulch films and biodegradable food packaging paper will be investigated. Both the manufacture of the composite paper consisting of cellulosic fibres chemically connected to a hybrid matrix and the coating of hybrid material on paper or impregnation of hybrid material in paper will be worked out. Particular attention will be paid to fast curing technologies such as UV.

Homogeneity of the matrix and film formation, levelling on the substrate and homogeneous distribution of fibres in the hybrid matrix will be investigated and optimized with regard to quality and efficiency.

Project Activities

To reach the targeted goals, the project partners work hand in hand and to make sure that the results can be transferred into the production process after the end of the project, and an intensive exchange between the partners and countries is achieved. The project work is portioned in various technical activities, which, in addition to the important aspects such as reporting, dissemination and explications represent the center of the project.
