VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd (VTT) is a state owned non-profit limited liability company. The Ministry of Employment and the Economy is responsible for state ownership steering. VTT carries out research and innovation activities for the needs of industry and knowledge-based society. In 2019, VTT’s net turnover was 147.2 million € and other operational incomes were 97.7 million €, with 2103 number of employees.

VTT has a long and vast experience in EU projects under different funding programmes and other frameworks. Ranked among the leading European RTOs, VTT is committed to responsible collaboration for achieving the Green Deal goals by networking with Finnish and European actors in the global context. Our task is to advance the utilisation and commercialisation of research and technology in commerce and society. Through scientific and technological means, we turn large global challenges into sustainable growth for businesses and society.


Project Role

Regarding NewHyPe VTT has excellent competence in lignocellulosic research and biocomposite development, including both processing and material development. VTT is also well equipped both in lab and pilot scale for the production, development and testing of novel composite materials to be exploited by the project.

Project Activities

To reach the targeted goals, the project partners work hand in hand and to make sure that the results can be transferred into the production process after the end of the project, and an intensive exchange between the partners and countries is achieved. The project work is portioned in various technical activities, which, in addition to the important aspects such as reporting, dissemination and explications represent the center of the project.
